Next, they added new features such as an anti-reflective lens coating on the Fashion Elite collection and Soft-FlexTM temples and silicone nosepads on many of their frames. WHAT IS GLARE?

Glare is simply a blinding concentration of light. It can be projected from a light source such as the sun, or reflected off surfaces like water, sand, snow or pavement. Even a bald head. Either way, glare impedes vision, hampers concentration and can lead to problems such as headaches, eye fatigue, and eye degenerating diseases such as pterygia.

WHAT IS SCATTERED LIGHT?

Reflected glare is an example of intense scattered light. When this harsh light gets in your eyes, your pupils constrict. You squint. And your ability to discern details around you is eliminated. Like a deer caught in a car's headlights, all you can see is the glare that's blinding you.

HOW DO WE ELIMINATE GLARE?

The most common reaction to reflected glare is to reach for a pair of ordinary sunglasses. Big mistake. Sure, sunglasses reduce the total amount of light reaching your eye. But, like squinting, they don't eliminate glare, they merely reduce what your eyes want -- light. Visual information. Stimuli. This overall process laminates a state-of-the-art polarizing filter between two super-thin ophthalmic-grade lenses. The result is an optical sandwich that works actively to filter out glare while letting essential light through. So you get more accurate visual information with less distortion, less light refraction and less eye fatigue. In short, what you see looks better, sharper, clearer. HOBIE PROPRIETARY POLARIZED FILM The pigmentation system for dyeing our polarized film is the most advanced in the industry. It allows for a higher, more even saturation of the pigment into the film. So you get maximum polarization without the "red haze" effect that can occur with many other polarized sunglasses. SUPER-THIN OPHTHALMIC-GRADE LENSES Hobie uses only the thinnest, highest quality, ophthalmic-grade lenses on the market. Even though our 1.4mm lens blanks are significantly more expensive than standard 3.0mm lens blanks, they require less fining and polishing. As a result, everything looks better through a Hobie lens.

PRECISION MANUFACTURING

Every individual component that goes into a pair of Hobie Polarized Sunglasses is manufactured under the tightest tolerances. Each must pass through a myriad of quality control steps to ensure the best fit and finish. Unlike ordinary sunglass lenses, however, polarized lenses must be critically aligned during manufacture. Because our in-house production cuts and glazes nothing but polarized lenses, Hobie lenses are always hand-aligned for maximum polarization, better vision, better comfort.
